The leader of the Sadrist bloc Muqtada al-Sadr, has brought his support to PM Al-Maliki for a second term. The support is causing disputes within the al-Sadr organization. The majority of the Trends MP’s are very suspicious of PM Al-Maliki and think that Al-Maliki would start battling the Sadrist bloc again after he obtains the Prime Ministers office. In late September, PM Al-Maliki signed a resignation letter and gave the letter to the Al-Sadr Trend Political Commission to be used in case Al-Maliki started to persecute the Al-Mahdi Army or Al-Sadr Trend members.
